Our expertise is particularly strong in the natural stone industry. DAL FORNO’s headquarters and main operational base are located in the Apuan Alps stone district, just a few kilometres from the world-famous Carrara marble quarries.
Working for decades at the heart of one of the world’s most important stone-processing districts has given us first-hand knowledge of the challenges involved in lifting and handling marble, granite, natural stone slabs, blocks and finished products.
Our presence in the Italian stone industry also extends to Veneto and the Verona area, one of Europe’s major hubs for stone processing, technology and international trade. DAL FORNO has an office in the province of Vicenza, strengthening our ability to support customers throughout this important industrial region.
From individual equipment
to integrated lifting systems
Our solutions include vacuum lifters, column jib cranes, wall-mounted jib cranes, electric chain hoists, wire rope hoists and overhead suspended lifting systems.
Depending on the application, these can be combined with dedicated handling equipment such as clamps, vacuum suction pads, manipulators and vacuum generators to create a complete handling system designed around the customer’s production process.
From analysing the initial handling requirements to defining the most suitable equipment and its positioning within the workspace, our approach is based on one principle: the lifting system should adapt to the work, not the work to the lifting system.

Our engineering experience also extends to the metal handling sector, where we develop lifting and vacuum handling solutions for sheet metal and other industrial applications, applying the same attention to reliability, ergonomics and operational safety.

Engineering support
from concept to operation
Our work often begins before the equipment is selected.
Through our pre- and post-sales consulting services, we work with customers to analyse their handling requirements, working environment and production workflow, helping to define the most appropriate lifting system for each application.
Our engineering team can support the project from the initial assessment and layout definition to the selection, configuration and integration of jib cranes, hoists, vacuum lifters and other handling equipment. The objective is not simply to select individual products, but to make sure that all components work together effectively within the available workspace and the customer’s production process.
Our support continues after installation, with technical assistance, original spare parts, inspection and overhaul services, as well as guidance and training for the correct and efficient use of the equipment.
From understanding the load to designing the working area, we look at the lifting process as a whole.
This approach has made DAL FORNO a long-standing partner for stone-processing companies in Italy and worldwide. The same engineering experience has also been applied to special projects in the sheet metal industry, construction and civil engineering, where loads, environments and handling requirements can present very different challenges.

Integrated lifting and handling systems
An efficient lifting system is not simply a collection of individual pieces of equipment. It is the result of how structure, crane, hoist, lifting attachment and load work together within the actual production environment.
DAL FORNO designs and supplies integrated solutions combining jib cranes, overhead suspended lifting systems, electric chain hoists, vacuum lifters and dedicated handling devices, selected and configured according to the material, load, required movements, available space and production workflow.
Our experience in the stone industry is particularly important when designing systems for handling marble, granite, natural stone slabs, blocks and finished products, where weight, dimensions, surface characteristics and load geometry all influence the choice of the most appropriate lifting solution.
A vacuum lifter, for example, should not be considered independently from the crane and hoist supporting it. Likewise, the correct jib crane cannot be selected on lifting capacity alone: outreach, useful hook height, working area, load path and factory layout must all be considered as parts of the same system.

Experience matters when every application is different
There is no single lifting solution suitable for every application. Load weight and geometry, material and surface characteristics, frequency of use, required movements, available space and working environment all contribute to determining the most appropriate equipment and system configuration.
This is particularly important in vacuum lifting, where selecting the right vacuum lifter and suction pads is only part of the process. The lifting device must work correctly within the complete handling system, together with the jib crane or overhead structure, hoist, working area and production workflow.
